Butterlfy and Updates

Butterfly is finished! I cant believe how fast this was. Good thing is that I have managed to start something already and it feels like its gonna be quick too :)

Sundays I normally spend at Maud's (PointCroixes). While our kids run wild playing dinossaurs and cars we have coffee, chat - update the gossips and stitch (we do try...) and this is the HAED that I normally work when Im there. It kinda turned out to be my Sunday WIP and so far so good. Still have 17 pages to go

Remember I said I was backing drawing? Im no good but I have been watching lots of youtube videos and trying very hard. I have drawn this cute lady holding the heart and decided to colour her and turn into a card. This is what happened:

Here it is the jpeg file if you want to colour her. All I ask is if you do use her, could you please let me know so I can check what you came up with? :) Thanks...

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Is it to early to...

Starting colouring Christmas images?  I make around 30 Christmas cards every year and I always seem to be stuck by one card or two. This year I promise myself I wont have any last-minute card, so if I coulour a couple of images now and leave them ready for when Im making cards, that should make my life a little bit easier, no? I will let you know how it goes throughout the year :)
Here is my first image

I just love this image from Lili of the Valley. It was coloured using Promarkers and the fluffy bit is Flower Soft.

My Valentines

We had such a great Valentines! Hubby graduated from his NCO course and is back home (finally!). The big smile on his face during the ceremony was something to be proud of. It was 5 months of hard work totally worthed. And Eddie behaved like a big boy during it so we took him for a lunch at the mall. Needless to say he was very excited.
I made this Valentine's Card for him on thursday night because I didnt realise he was expecting one since I gave his present on Wednesday (he wanted a new motorbike helmet, and boy, those are expensive...) After reading my blog updates I saw that I love promarker this week challenge is 'Gingham' (Sorry honey but your card is going to be displayed on blogworld)

Updates

Happy New Year all!!! Wish you a health and happy 2014!

It is been a while since my last post. I have only 3 updates and I blame the lack of motivation on my wrist and elbow. I was in so much pain before Xmas that I could barely look at a needle.
I did manage to get this done: (up-to-date with this project)

Part 16 of ATW80
I have done some work on my HAED while on holidays but no photo yet. Stitched only the main colour. Lots of confetti to go now (not looking forward to it...)

And my New Year, New Project start is Positive Thinking Sal from a french blogger (here). This Sal is now finished and there are 5 parts. Have just finished part 1

Yvonne is hosting a card challenge on her the Facebook group and I came up with this one. It is very simple and it was what I came up with considering I still have 3 bags to unpack and all the laundry from our holidays. I have used 2 different embossing folders, 2 different sizes Star dies, 2 different sizes Oval dies, a Swirl die and the Tim Holtz Flowers die. Paper is from stash.

My wish for this new year is to craft more than last year. Trying to find time to seat and get something finished is very hard, but I will do my best

Pink and Pink

I have this image for a while now. It was a freebie from a magazine and the designer is KennyK but I could never think of what to use it for but 'Pink Hair' theme for this week challenge suits her so well!!!
And I went looking for more images from this designer and I found a couple I could use in different occasions. Added them to my Wish-List :)

I have been bold....

Very bold!
First you show my Tree of Stitch by Abi from TSS Yahoo Group. I have caught up with all the parts of this SAL, so very proud of myself. Everytime I read in the instructions 'place the thread and give a gentle tug' I know my stitches will look bad. I did my best and that's what is all about right. This is a learning piece and so far Im doing very well
Summer Tree of Stitches - TSS Yahoo Group SAL

Another thing this week was a card for a friend who had a baby girl a couple of weeks ago. Im very late on this one but better late than never

Dont you just love Lili of the Valley images? I know I do.

And now for the bold part. Maud went to US on hols and you know, we, mortals who live in Ireland and dont have Joans or Michaels to browse around, gave her a list of I-want-but-do-not-need-stash. My list only had a couple of items but already made my day when she gave me a bag with my goodies. I got a Martha Stewart scoring board (the big one, 12x12), 2 Memento Ink Pads and some skeins for a new stitching project.
Then, when I was inquiring about rock-a-blocks on the cardmaking group, Clare told me she had one and wasnt using it so I could have it. BINGO! And she was selling her stamp collections, so off I went and bought 5 stamps. I see this as 'I'm helping a friend to de-clutter her house...' even if it means clutterng mine lol
And last, Lili of the Valley emailed on Monday a quick sale of 10%off everything until Wed noon. Got 3 stamps and still waiting on them to arrive. And I bought a Promarker too to try a new combo combination.

This week I will work on blankets for the hospital again. I wish I could make at least one blanket a month. Lets see if I can stick with that.

Autumn is here....

The cold days are back... and Im kinda glad to be honest.
Myself and Eddie have very bad heat rashes and my Hay fever was really bad this season, so roll on Autumn!

I have no updates on my WIPs but I managed to make a card this week. It is for a card swap that I run and I hope my partner is not a follower or surprise will be spoiled. Theme is Autumn and I had these coloured leaves that I was dying to use.

I forgot how fun it is to heat emboss. Had a blast doing the leaf and the sentiment (Note to self - Need to buy more embossing powder)

The paper doily has leaves and flowers embossed and it is a shame photo doesnt show it...

Getting pencils ready...

I have been watching lots of videos on YouTube on different Mediums to colour and I have to say, I wish I had an area where I could lay down all my pencils and pastels and just work all afternoon. My space is pretty limited and with Eddie around I need to hide the good stuff before he gets his little paws on it.
And I decided to give it a try on pastels, crayons and mineral oil to colour a couple of images I had stamped. I mixed the colouring with promarkers just because Im used to them and knowing myself, a stamp bad coloured would end up in the bin....
There is still a lot of room for improvement and I was thinking about taking up art classes when Eddie starts Pre-School in September. Its a big 'maybe' at the moment and considering I already have an art background, signing up shouldnt be hard, right? Lets see how things go...

Happy St Patricks Day!

Hello all! Welcome to new followers and a big Hello to current ones

Im posting this a bit early as my little one will have surgery on Monday, just after Paddys Day, and I will be with him in the hospital til Wednesday and God knows when I will have time to post again.

I saw this little guy on La-La Land Crafts on their facebook page months and was dying to get it. But they only had it in stamp not in digi. So I waited... And today when I checked again, it was there! Just had to buy it.
We live in Dublin and Paddys Day is always big. We take Eddie for an Irish Breakfast in a pub in town,  then to see the parade at O'Connoll Street (we normally see it from Dame Street as it is not as busy as O'Connell) then go back to the pub where mum and daddy can have a green pint with friends before going home and Eddie can eat some lunch, after all, standing on the street to watch all the beautiful colours of the parade always make him hungry :)
So this is my card:

Image: La-La Land Crafts
Coloured with Promarkers.
Ribbons, Paper and everything else used is from stash and have been for a long time now.... (hanging head in shame...)

Hope you like it!

Happy Mothers Day!

Hope you are all well!!! And Happy Mother's Day to those who celebrate.

I have been stitching part 2 on Birds Sampler from Angie Designs, but my wrists have been acting up badly lately and not much progress has been made on it. So instead, I have decided to make a card. This is what I came up with:

The mermaid is a freebie from Sliekje here (she has lots of freebies and they are very very cute!) and was coloured with Promarkers. The sea-shelves and stars are die-cut from Sizzix. Backing paper, ribbon and trim from stash. I had her coloured for the past few weeks while trying some new colours I got, but only got around to turn it into a card now. I added Sparklies on her tail too.

Will post a photo of my stitched piece as soon as I have some progress on it (maybe during the week)
I have been very busy with work too, and it is just getting on the way of my craft!

Challenges

This is the first time I enter my card in a challenge. Everybody says my colouring skills have improved so much that I have decided to step it up and give it a try. It doesnt really mean anything, just a burst in my ego :)

So I have use Promarkers to colour the image ( Lili of the Valley) and paper is Capsule - Lemon Sorbet from Papermania. I have used Old Paper Distress ink on the edges.

Challenge: I love Promarkers

Lets Stitch... all finished!

A big welcome to my new followers and a very warm hello to all!

The week has been a bit hectic but from reading other blogs, I can see it wasn't only me. The weather is just not helping at all lately, isn't it? It is suppose to be Spring, but this morning I had snow, and DH couldn't get his motorbike out of the garage. How lovely....

I have been busy indoors. VERY BUSY! I managed to finish my second blanket for the charity Henry the Bear. I've made both blankets measuring 90x110, which was the size my DS received, so in my mind, i was just replacing their stock. While talking to the person who organizes it, I have offered to finish some of hers, as a lot of ladies can crochet/knit granny squares but not join them, so I'm off to her this afternoon to collect some squares and put them together. This is gonna be fun. Here are the pics of the ones I made:

And I have finished the 'Lets Stitch' pattern. This was a SAL from the Emerald Isle group and I was stitching it only on Sundays, and it only took me 4 Sundays to complete it. I have used 11 count printed Aida. The fabric was bought in Brazil, so no idea who manufactures it, but the print on it is so cute and I think it really goes well with the colours I went for (remember, I'm on stash-diet for 2013):

I have twisted the original pattern a bit. I have added the letter 'L' beside the 'C' so it stands for my initials, and I added a button in a flower/star-ish shape in the gap on the big vase. There are beads on the stitched frame and in the flowers. For some reason the close-up picture of this is not uploading so maybe next post, when I figure it out how to.

And last but not least, I have been colouring again. This is a new stamp I bought from Lili of the Valley last Sale. The sentiment reads: 'I love you to the moon and back' and it is hand-writing, as hubby chose it instead of the printed one I had with the same saying.

Isn't the teddy cute? And the bunny falling out of the space ship? It reminds of my brother for some reason ( I hope he doesn't follow my blog lol)

I have started my HAED and so far so good. I have no photos to share at the moment, but will soon.

A member of the online card making group I belong to died a couple of weeks ago and that caught me by surprise. We knew she was sick but not at that extension and it was a shock to hear the bad news. She was a sweet person and will be sadly missed.

Off to play in the snow with the little one now. Keep safe everyone!

Improving Colouring Skills

This week my little one decided to be the best boy ever and let me play with my 'toys' a lot. Needless to say he got chocolate as treats. I probably shouldn't have given them to him but was so happy to get the cards done that it was worth.

Here they are:

Stamp - Lili of the Valley

Stamp - Marianne Designs
Flowers - Wild Orchid
Stamp - Marianne Designs

Stamp - DoCrafts Country Companions

Stamp - Lili of the Valley
Im accepting ideas of how to finish this card (sentiment, flowers,..)

Please comment on my cards. I love to hear new ideas and how to improve them. I struggle a lot with flowers arrangement. A LOT! Every constructive comment is welcome.

Now it is back to my stitching. Papillon released Part 9 of ATW and I' m dying to get this done.

TUSAL, Cards and Charity

This past week I've decided that I wouldn't stitch as much and would do something I absolutely love but haven't done in weeks: colouring. Yeap, you heard me. I love colouring! Really do. I'm not an expert but I try my best and I really enjoyed it. I don't have many Promakers so had to work with whatever I have and by the end of the week I realized I could use 3 or 4 more shades and off to online shop I went (now is just wait for the postman)
Images were turned into cards but are not completely finish yet as I had no time to do it.

Image -Lili of the Valley

Image - Mag Freebie

Image - Do craft stamp set

I searched a lot online for skin/hair shades and need to write a reference list, so bare with me

Then, every second Tuesday of the month, the local ladies meet for a paper crafty night and this is what we did last meeting. The theme was Shabby-Chic and you can see all the boxes made here. Roberta helped me with the feathers and the shoe button and Yvonne gave me hand with the flowers and bow. A big thank you ladies!

Another start this week was a crochet blanket for the Henry the Bear blanketeers. This is a cause very close to my heart and I have been promising myself to make one for the past 2 years, so I finally contact the organization and got the dimensions and off I went. This is what I have so far:

And last but not least: I didn't forget my TUSAL. I was waiting my next post so I could do it all together. For those of you that are mummys, you know how hard it is to have 5 minutes to upload photos and write a post when your little one is asking for yogurt, milk, go to toilet, cant find my teddy/ball/car....

I need to learn to write more often as my posts are awfully long....
