Butterlfy and Updates

Butterfly is finished! I cant believe how fast this was. Good thing is that I have managed to start something already and it feels like its gonna be quick too :)

Sundays I normally spend at Maud's (PointCroixes). While our kids run wild playing dinossaurs and cars we have coffee, chat - update the gossips and stitch (we do try...) and this is the HAED that I normally work when Im there. It kinda turned out to be my Sunday WIP and so far so good. Still have 17 pages to go

Remember I said I was backing drawing? Im no good but I have been watching lots of youtube videos and trying very hard. I have drawn this cute lady holding the heart and decided to colour her and turn into a card. This is what happened:

It will be a long post...

For some strange reason I havent felt like turning on my computer in ages... My phone doesnt let me upload photos onto blogspot, and for this reason, I have lots of updates. Grab a cuppa :)

Firt is Eddie's Birthday Invitations. He is turning 4 in a couple of weeks and we are celebrating it with a small party for the kids at the Pirate Village. Because the place is responsible for activities and the food (apart from cake, which BTW is already ordered - Im so organized this time...) I had time to come up with some funky invitations. I googled 'Pirate Invitation' and this came up on images, so credit to Notablenest and thank you for the idea!

I have copied the design and changed the text a bit and Eddie loves it! I have made 12 of these and the main reason is because some adults, while I was showing my prototype and asking for opinions, they've asked if they would receive one as well. I had so much fun doing these. We have cancelled all the previous parties (he was either sick, in hospital, or something bad happened..) so this is one is big to us!

And because I havent blogged in a while I have some stitching updates. Firts is my HAED. I have finished the first row and so far have worked 3 pages on row 2. Thats because Im working the main colour first so I can follow the swirls and then going back with the confetti stitches once the page is complete with the main colour.

 Then I have my ATW which is up-to-date. I have finished the latest part (cant remember now if 14 or 15..)

And finally, I've met with Maire this week, from Henry the Bear Blanketteers, for more squares to be made up for the hospital. I asked for lots to keep me busy and this is what she gave me

I guess I will have lots to work on :) I dont really mind because apart from the HAED and ATW I have no other projects. Im kitting up some patterns for next year, going through my To-Stitch list, cutting pages from magazines, laminating them and leaving things ready, but no stitching really. So on my days off (while Eddie is at pre-school) I can start adding them together and the edge is quite easy to work on once they are all stitched up.

I have warned you this was going to be a long post lol

Where does the time go?

Im not sure whats happening at the moment. I blinked and it is May already.... Where all the other 4 first months went???? My son is 3y5m already... It seems like yesterday I was pregnant, grumpy, fat and tired... (because NOW im just grumpy and tired lol) July is our 3rd wedding anniversary (dont do the maths...). This is my 7th year in Ireland. Better stop now...

I have an update on my HAED. Too many reds if you ask me but so far so good. Have finished page 3 and started page 4, so next time I have it on rotation, I hope to finish the top row with page 4 and 5. It's not your normal HAED with 10 pages per row which was why I went for it. From my list '10 things to stitch before I die', I can cross HAED patterns off it!

I have been on a mad moment for Mini Albums (the Scrapbook kind). Not sure why it appeals to me, but I have been mad for them lalely and watching every single YouTube video about it. I did my first one out of a very heavy cardstock I had at home. Then at to work decided to take a walk in our depot and found out the guys were throwing good cardboard in the bin for recycling. So off I went to look at the bin (it is just a Cardboard/Paper bin, not really dumpster diving...) and I managed to find perfect good strips of cardboard which I cut into size and now I have 10 pages and 2 sets of covers for a 7x7in album. Will probably turn it into 2 albums with 5 pages each, not sure yet.  But will keep you posted on that :)

I still have 2 tags to finish for this album and 2 pages (which Im waiting to print some photos to add to it). My Mum got a hold of it the other day and ask if I would consider give it to my Dad as birthday pressie. What can I say? It will go straight into the luggage as soon as finished as we are off to visit them in June.

I'm baaaack, and full of updates!

Hello Ladies,

I did tell last time I posted that I would be absent for a while. DS had surgery to remove his tonsils, but because he is a cardiac patient, there were a couple of measures we had to take before it and it took me a while to get ready. This week I have been housebound with him, and because he wanted me sitting near him while he watched tv (seriously, I couldnt even get a glass of water without him crying...) I did get lots of stitching done! 

It's been a slow and boring week, and without my stitching I would be lost! Thank God my wrists arent sore.

I have worked on 3 different projects this week.
First, my HAED, finally finished page 2. 2 down, 35 to go....
Finished part 3 on Birds Sampler. I thought that this was a big part and I was getting tired of the colours, thats why I have done rotation on the projects.
I have the 'C Sampler' out all the time. I find very hard to stitch on it. Its 28 count white fabric, stitching full crosses, 1 over 1. It kills my eyes... so I found that if I have it out and stitch a bit every now and then, I will probably have it finished soon. Another thing is that I dont have that pattern on my tablet so I can stitch when DS is playing on it lying on my lap.

Owwww, btw, today is day 8 after surgery and Eddie is back eating and drinking nearly as normal. We had a couple of rough days, specially with all the mouth ulcers he had. Poor boy couldn't drink a glass of milk without crying. All past now!!!

Starting HAED

Hi all

Quick post to show you I have started my first HAED. It is the heart shape from the Filigree range. Started on the 31st of January and I kinda wanted to have stitched page 1 and 2 before taking picture. I have to say, it is not as easy as I thought.
Pattern was a present from a stitching friend and I thought it would be easy as it doesnt have a full background cover, but now I have my doubts.
That doesnt mean I will be starting another one just to test my theory :) Not for now at least...

I have grided the fabric using a marker pen, and right now Im regreting this decision. The pen kinda skipped a row or a line in some of the marks, and it is hard to keep track of it. Note to self: 'Next time, grid it properly'. Mummy always says: Count twice, stitch it once. Count once, stitch it twice.

Crazy week, Christmas Exchange and RAK

Hello all,

I've had a crazy week.  Don't know if it is the cold weather or the imminence of my 30th birthday (next Tuesday), but it has been very strange

It all started with my hands going very sore on Monday. I suffer from carpal tunnel and sometimes the pain flares up and it goes away after a couple of painkillers. But I think I overdid the previous week (stitching, cleaning the house, laundry, ironing, crochet...)  now i have to deal with it.

First is my House of Needleworker. Im enjoying this sooo much!! And it is coming along nicely. Havent touched since last week but there was a bit done before Monday:

I've seen this little apron on a craft fair and it really caught my eyes. I thought it was sooo cute. When I got home, off I go look through my fabrics and I remembered I bought some fat quarters with fruits prints. My hubby caught me measuring my bottle of Fairy liquid (i just wanted to make sure I would get it right the first time..) He thought I was going crazy... Anyway, here it is. Doesnt it look cute??

On Wed, I stalked my post man (literally). Helen from Emerald Isle group emailed me to say she posted my Christmas exchange and it was a registered post. My post man comes around at 8.30am, but I had a hairdresser appointment at 9am (the second time I have been in the hairdresser this the year...) so I went around the house estate looking for him. The depot is not far from my apartment but I was dying to see what she had done for me. It just couldnt wait. Postman now laughs when he sees me and called me Mrs Impatience.

Then on Thursday, Maud (here) sent me this beautiful pressie. I have been looking at this pattern for a while but the size and amount of threads scares me deeply. I enjoy big projects, but HAEDs projects are not my cuppa. Anyway, I told her one day that if I had to stitch one of their projects, this would be it. And now I have it!!!! Thank you soooo much Maud. Off I go to buy threads now and this will be my 2013 project

Then on Saturday, Angie from Magicas Puntadas (here) has posted she is taking names for her next 2013 SAL. I just love how she place flowers together in one big project. So I have joined in for the Bird Sampler. Isnt it just gorgeous?? I know some of the girls from my local group have done some of her sals before, and I know she is very strict on her rules and how she sends the parts monthly, but I think that for a fee of €3, I might give it a try.

Then it is Sunday (today), and hubby got called into the Barracks for some shooting training and of course he's not coming back til Thursday (maybe...?). So that means spending my birthday by myself. Well, not by myself as I have Edward, my nearly 3yo boy, to keep me company but you know what I mean. The joys of been an army wife!

Since I havent stitched all week, I've decided to read all the books on my bedside table. So far, I read Fifty shades (book 1 and 2) and Im reading a book from August Cury at the same time. I do hope to be back on track this week.
